Slabbed granite hearth and back panel sets suitable for solid fuel fires and insert stoves. Black granite is smooth to the touch and easy to maintain, black granite has a slight fleck in it giving it added definition.
This slabbed hearth is specifically for solid fuel fires and stoves. Slabbing means the hearth is cut into 3 or 4 main pieces, these pieces are then glued back together and the hearth back filled with a cement and vermiculite mixture. Although the hearth comes as one complete piece there will be joints visible where the pieces have been glued back together. This process allows for the hearth to expand and contract with the heat of the fire/stove.
Please remember that granite is a natural stone and will therefore have natural fossil marks and features in it.
